Summer 2010
Join Alex at the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition on Friday July 9 - Sunday July 11 from 10:30 - 7:30 each day (Sunday until 6:30). Her work will be displayed at Booth 519.
Work on display includes blown glass sculpture from the Filaments series, Sandcast glass work from the Inner Space and Tower series of work and new works entitled, Manipulating the Earth. Alex will also have her portfolio with images of her new Public Art Installation completed for the Royal Botanical Gardens.
Spring
Alex was Awarded a Public Art installation at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington, Ontario. The Sandcast glass and metal composition is inspired by topographical views of the escarpment, geological and local history. The Escarpment Mural was unveiled on May 27, 2010 at a Gala event to open the new garden and with an open house on May 30. The new sunken garden and waterfall is right next to the entranceway of the main building. You can now view this wall installation any time you visit, summer or winter.
Public Collections
Three of Alex's artworks are being acquired by public art collections in the next few months. The Ministry of Culture in Saudi Arabia, the Danish glass gallery, Glasmuseet Ebeltoft and the Canadiana State Fund Art Collection of the Government of Canada. Alex will be invited to meet the Canadian Governor General, Michaelle Jean, in Ottawa.
Winter
Alex's hanging installation "Seeding Clouds" was exhibited at the Vancouver Museum from January to March. This is part of the art exhibitions featured during the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games. Alex participated in a group exhibition organized for Award Winners of the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition. It is entitled, "Best of 2009". The exhibition was held at the First Canadian Place Gallery on King Street West in Toronto.
The Living Arts Centre Gallery on the second floor will be featured work by the Resident Artists. Alex will be showing some blown and hot worked glass designs inspired by the Rococco period in European Art History.
Fall 2009
Manipulating the Earth and the Tower Series were new works shown at Galerie Elena Lee, SOFA Chicago (an international exposition of Sculptural Objects and Functional Art) at the Navy Pier in on November 5-8.
"Seeding Clouds" a hanging installation was on exhibit at the Cheongju International Craft Biennale in Korea from September 23-November 1.
The Petroff Gallery is now representing Alex's filaments series in Toronto. Alex's blown and cast glass sculpture is shown on an ongoing basis at the Petroff Gallery this fall and winter. Petroff Gallery has also chosen Alex's work for two Corporate Award Commissions.
Spring 2009
Galerie Elena Lee in Montreal hosted Alex Anagnostou's solo show from April 7-28, 2009 and it was held over until the end of May. New work featured suspended installations from the Filaments Series entitled, "Seeding Clouds" and "Beyond".
